The problem of bad breath

Mal aliento (SPL)The HALITOSIS may affect more than 50% of the population.

In "the road to wigan Pier" (1937) George Orwell wrote: "you can feel affection for an asesino…, but you cannot feel affection for a man whose mouth sucks, usually sucks."

And is that which has not felt aversion smell bad breath?

And while the revival of a few days with oral odor is normal - for example after drinking alcohol or tobacco overset - morning teeth brushing usually often put an end to the problem.

But when we daily halitosis or bad breath - something could go wrong, because it probably means that our mouth is a "paradise" of bacteria.

Bacteria en la lengua (SPL)The mouth is a "paradise" of bacteria, especially at the rear of the language.

Dr. Mel Rosenberg, Professor of Microbiology of Tel Aviv University has spent two decades researching the diagnosis and treatment of bad breath, it is known as "the guru of the halitosis".

The scientist has discovered that at least 600 species of bacteria live in our mouths and they live in the mouth, it's like living a "forest".

But they are not bacteria smelling bad. These microorganisms do is break down protein that we eat in our diet to produce molecules that emit gases containing sulphur, which is those who reject the bad smell.

And more bacteria in our mouth more molecules of sulphur and worst still the halitosis.

Sometimes bad breath can also be caused by certain diseases such as kidney failure, or liver. But if you are in good health than probably something very simple, improving oral hygiene, it helps to overcome this disorder.

According to Professor Rosenberg mouth bacteria are most prolific in the back of the language, is so important, in the oral hygiene, scrape the language every day.

But the halitosis may also occur due to tooth decay or gum disease, nose, throat and tonsil and many other disorders.

Correct and regular teeth brushing can help keep your fresh breath, says Dr. Nigel Carter, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation.

Poor oral hygiene can lead to gingivitis, which in turn can progress to gum disease. It may also occur subsequent recession of the gum and bone and finally fall of teeth. Is often the bacteria in gum causing persistent bad breath

Dr. Nigel Carter

"It is important to ensure that we leave the margins of the gums and teeth of interdental brushes plates or dental floss every day, said the expert.

"And we can use a language or brush scraper to remove the bacteria at the back of the tongue," adds.

Smoking and nutrition also influence the bad breath.

In fact, tobacco is one of the most common causes of bad breath. And certain foods, which contain garlic or spices strong like cumin, or too many herbs can cause bad breath.

Experts also recommend drinking water periodically moisten your mouth or increase the flow of saliva with chewing gum, because saliva to neutralize the acids that produces the bacterium and prevents the development of caries.

"Can also occur subsequent recession of the gum and bone and finally the fall of teeth".

"Is often bacteria in gum causing persistent bad breath," he adds.

There are no figures on the prevalence of this disorder, but it is estimated that up to 50% of the world's population could suffer halitosis.

It is a fact, explains Professor Rosenberg is that we are all extremely sensitive to the bad breath mainly from others.

DentistaGood oral hygiene is part of the solution to the problem.

Why mouth odor can become a serious problem and lead to social isolation, serious emotional problems and even divorce.

If you are aware of their chances of halitosis are that you're doing everything possible to avoid it.

But there are also cases that fears by bad breath can become a strange psychological disorder called illusory halitosis or halitofobia.

It is characterized by a sense of insecurity speaking with someone else and trending smelling breath and brush their teeth constantly.

But with the halitofobia more in the mouth, bad breath is in the mind.

The disease tends to have an incidence higher among young men and has been linked to depression.

Experts recommend that if you doubt his mouth smell I asked a friend, relative or even your dentist at your next dental footprint: you really think that I have bad breath?
